G.H.Bass & Co. was born in Maine in 1876, the brainchild of George Henry Bass—a man on a quest to create the perfect shoe. Mixing the finest leather with the best craftsmen, he lead the way in terms of progress and Bass soon made tracks all over the globe with his revolutionary penny loafer. Bass decided to put a stylish spin on a Norwegian farm shoe design that was designed for hanging around in the field and dubbed them as Weejuns. The shoe became popular with the American Ivy League and the mods later on, the Bass Weejun penny loafer looks as good now as it ever did. Still handmade to this day, Bass Weejuns loafers continue to be ever popular showing the effect of a true original.
From the classic Larson penny loafer to the Kiltie, the Bass Weejuns are the perfect example of an iconic shoe that has remained relevant for over 80 years. Still handmade to this day, the loafers provide a timeless wardrobe staple.
