Loake footwear came about in 1880 when Thomas, John and William Loake opened a factory in Northamptonshire, the heart of the English shoemaking industry. They were determined to provide the most stylish, comfortable and durable shoes in the country at reasonable prices. This same philosophy drives Loake today, although their market and reputation have now travelled worldwide far beyond the borders of Northamptonshire. To craft a pair of Goodyear Welted Loake shoes can take up to eight weeks. Loake use only the very highest quality materials, sourced from around the globe, which are rigorously inspected for the slightest flaw. Some 170 skilled crafts people, 50 shoe parts and 200 different operations are involved in the manufacturing process, with stringent quality control procedures applied at every stage. The result is a standard of footwear that most shoemakers can only aspire to.
