The Arizona is the Birkenstock everyone pictures — twin adjustable straps, no fuss, and a shape that has barely changed in fifty years because it did not need to.
This one is suede leather rather than Birko-Flor: a soft napped upper that breaks in quickly and takes on the shape of your foot. Underneath is the anatomically contoured cork-and-latex footbed the brand has built since 1902, with moulded arch support, a deep heel cup and a raised toe bar. Both straps adjust on metal pin buckles, so you can set the fit across the instep rather than putting up with it.
Mocca is a deep warm brown that suits suede better than a flat colour would, and goes with more than black does.
Birkenstock traces its roots to 1774, when Johann Adam Birkenstock was registered as a shoemaker in the German village of Langen-Bergheim. More than 250 years on, the family firm still builds that same anatomically shaped support into footwear made to be worn for years.
