Alpine Portage is a vegetable-tanned leather — tanned using plant-based tannins rather than chrome, which means it starts firm and relatively pale and develops a deep, rich patina through use and exposure. It's a slower process than oil-tanned leathers, but the results are more individual and more dramatically expressive over time.
