Edwin Jeans was created in Japan in 1947 at a time when denim was not made within the country and instead had to be imported from the US. The founder of the brand, known as Mr Tsunemi, created his own denim so he could wear the styles he loved - even pioneering the practice of stonewashing jeans for the classic faded look that has been popular ever since. Not only was Mr Tsunemi incredibly ambitious and creative, but he also had unique style and a passion for innovative streetwear.
The great thing about Edwin Jeans is that they have adapted with fluidity to changing styles as denim trends have grown and evolved. It is difficult to see a turned up hem on a stonewashed pair of jeans and not recognise it as a nod to Mr Tsunemi’s original designs being showcased in Japan in the second half of the twentieth century, proving that this is the brand to be thanked for a pioneering a multitude of denim trends we now see as mainstream.
The current Edwin denim range includes a number of options ranging from looser cuts in the ED-45 and classic straight cuts such as the ED-55, through to contemporary slimmer and tapered styles such as the ED-80.
