Montane

Montane was born in 1993, to strangers, Chris Roff and Jake Doxat, who met on a 3-month expedition to southern Chile in 1989.

It has become synonymous with breathable, lightweight clothing and equipment. For over 25 years, Montane has collaborated with serious mountain experts operating in harsh environments worldwide to test new clothing designs.

From the British Antarctic Survey to The British Mountain Rescue Teams, there's a lot going on in the United Kindom. Professionals prefer Montane which requires the strongest credentials from their apparel and equipment.

Montane, with the extreme shock, was the first to fully push the boundaries of single layer mountain clothing, and subsequently, appreciating the true significance of windproof clothing, they created the Featherlite Smock, the first highly packable, windproof and breathable windshirt. Since Fridtjof Nansen realised that the windproof properties of a garment were the secret to moving quickly and comfortably in the mountains while planning the first crossing of Greenland over 100 years ago, the Featherlite Smock was probably the most functional and innovative piece of windproof garment design.

Montane aspires to go one step farther than other outdoor companies in terms of design and manufacture to push the limits of endurance. The brand collaborates with the world's top fabric suppliers that are engineered for the rigours of the outdoors product design. In 2015, Montane became the first British brand in 17 years to partner with GORE-TEX expanding its aim to develop the best outdoor gear even further.

Despite the fact that its products have helped to shape the outdoor industry, Montane is not a brand that rests on its laurels. The latest goods from the company are created in collaboration with the world-class international athlete team that includes technical mountaineers and climbers, ultra-distance trail runners, and polar explorers.
