• Made from — 100% organic waxed cotton ripstop outer with a 100% cotton lining. The ripstop grid resists tearing; the wax does the weatherproofing, and improves with age rather than wearing out.
• Wears like — oversized fit with a 75cm back length. Corduroy collar and throat tab, zip and stud fastening under a storm flap, twin bellow pockets, handwarmer chest pockets, a rear poacher's pocket with drop-down drip strip, and snap-adjust cuffs. Cut with room for a heavy knit underneath.
• The Barbour part — Heritage+ takes the originals and rebuilds them for now. The silhouette is contemporary; the bellow pockets, the cord collar and the poacher's pocket are exactly as they have always been. Made by a company that has been in South Shields since 1894.
• Who it's for — anyone buying a jacket for the next decade rather than the season. Over a chunky knit and dark denim at weekends, or as the outer layer that pulls everything beneath it together.
• Looking after it — do not wash and do not dry clean. Sponge clean with cold water only. When the finish begins to dry out — roughly once a year with regular wear — rewax with Barbour Thornproof Dressing.
