DETAILS

Field Notes Brand Books brings back Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon in the format GIs carried in WWII — the first new Armed Services Edition published since the programme ended in 1947, set from the complete text as it ran in Black Mask magazine.

This landscape-format paperback measures 5½ × 3⅞ inches and carries a foreword by Kevin Guilfoile, printed in the USA. It's designed as a companion to the 1943 memo books. SKU FNB-02.

Field Notes was founded in 2007 by designer Aaron Draplin and Jim Coudal as a revival of the classic American memo book. Its Field Notes Brand Books imprint applies that same love of good, affordable American printing to carefully made editions of great writing.
