The Ray-Ban New Wayfarer comes in matte blue on transparent acetate with a polarised blue gradient lens, the most colour-forward of the current run.
The New Wayfarer is the slimmer, less angular reading of the 1952 original, cut for a smaller face and an easier fit. The gradient runs darker at the top and clears toward the bottom, so the lens shades against overhead sun while leaving your sightline open. Polarised to cut reflected glare. Ray-Ban began in 1937, when Bausch & Lomb built a green-tinted lens to cut the glare US Army Air Corps pilots met at altitude. The Aviator followed that year and the Wayfarer in 1952, and nearly ninety years on the name still turns that optical-first thinking into frames worn far beyond the cockpit.
