Wanting to make a difference, Davis began to fuse his love of travelling with a business model that helps to fight poverty.
The name of the company, Cotopaxi, reflects the optimism and sheer determination that Davis experienced while he was in Ecuador. Cotopaxi is the name of an active stratovolcano in the Ecuadorian region within the Andes. Not only is the volcano a valued element of the local culture, but it’s also considered to be sacred by nearby communities. At the heart of Cotopaxi is their creed, Gear for Good.
From its giving model and sustainable product designs to company culture, the brand sees its business as a means of making a much-needed impact. This also includes putting 1% of all their revenue towards supporting community development and addressing poverty, as well as their grant program, which raises awareness of charity organisations.
